                            CARDAMOM

 Scientific name : Elettaria Cardamomum

       Family          : zingibearaceae

    There are two types of cardamom     
  
        1 . Alteeia : it is also know as green and small cardamom.
      


       2. Amomum : it is also konw as bigger, black, brown, and Nepali cardamom.
          Ayurvedic importance:
      
      1. Inflammation : if there is inflammation in nack then, crush small cardamom in radish water n drink it, it will cure the inflammation.

     2. Vomitting : take 5 gm of black cardamom in 500ml of water n boil it , when water remain 1/4th of the quantity then drink it after cooling it.

    3. Blister : Crush black cardamom n sugar in minute particle n put it on your tongue it if there are blisters in your mouth.

     4. Hoarseness : In case of hoarseness , then , before going to bed n after waking up chew small cardamom boiled but cooled water.

    5.  Cough : During cough and cold take a Cardamomum along with ginger , basil leaves, and clove along with betel leaf.

   6. Indigestion : if you ate banana in large quantitie then quickly eat a Cardamomum by this the bananas will digest n you fell free.

               Cultivation of cardamom
 The cultivation of cardamom is proving very profitable for farmar. Cardamom's plant is upto 5-10 feets.it's cultivation is possible in tropical evergreen forests. Shadow and moisture is must for it's cultivation. It's cultivation can be done in red and lattired soil.

                     Importance of soil
Red and lattired soil vis most suitable for it's cultivation. But proper guidance and caring can make it's cultivation possible in any type of soil. For the cultivation of cardamom the pH range of soil should be between 5-7.5 .

               Temperature and climate
   
Tropical evergreen forest's climate is essential for it's cultivation but in present time, it is cultivation in many places in India.For it's cultivation 1500mm rainwater is essential. Moisture in air shadow place is required for it's growth.In winter minimum 10 degree Celsius and in summer maximum temperature should be 35 degree Celsius for it's optimum growth.

                        Tilling of land 
The remains of last cultivated crop should be removed n till deep with plough and after tilling build a space for water harvesting so that irrigation is not frequently require. Water harvesting is seen in hilly n places with less rainfall. Re-till the land if you want to plant the crop side by side then 1.5-2 feet long pot and if you want to plant the crops plain land then dig the pits between 2- 2.5 feet and place manures and fertilizers in the soil and leave it for 15 days .

                      Crop prepration
 Cardamom plants are prepared in nurseries.For preparing crops we should place them with 10 cm of gap. Before sowing the seeds should be senitize with cow's urine or Trico derma . For 1 acre of land cultivation 1-1.25 kg of seeds are needed. Beds are made and 20-25kg of fertlizer is mixed well in the land . After sowing seeds in the bed they should be irrigated by drip irrigation mathod and cover it up by the rice strwas.when they reaches the size of 1 foot then these are ready to sow.

                         Irrigation 
It's plant should be irrigated just after sowing and inthe season of rain there is no need of irrigation them but in summer , to moisture they should be irrigated regularly and in winter's they should be irrigated in the span of 10 to 15 days.

       
                        Crop disease
Generally , less disease are seen in the cardamom plants, main disease are  as fallows : 

1. Fungal infection: 

The fungal infection & mosaic diseas harms the plants at great extent. The leaves of the plant get sqeezed & dried up due to this disease .To prevent this disease the seeds should be senitize by Trico derma if them also affects the plant then the plant should be thrown away.

  2. White fly disease: 

This disease suspended the plants  growth, it attracts on the leaves of the plants & squeeze up the leaves n destroy gradually plants dries up. This can be prevented by caustic soda & neem leaves water should be sprinkled over it.

    3. Bring larva disease: 
This is affected by a insects , in this insects attracts the soft part of plants & destroy them .it can be prevented by sprinkling basilus over it.

         Cutting & Cleaning of the crops

Cardamom fruits should be cut before ripening of it & it is cleaned up .it's fruits are dried in sunlight at 8-12 degree celsius.when they dried completely then they get ready eventually. 

                    Growth & profit

Cardamom plants are started to give it's production after 3 years & cardamom dried in 1 acre of land is about 130-150 kg. Which coast upto Rs2000/kg inthe market.by this farmar can be earn upto 2-3 lacs easily.
